According to a research conducted by a Reddit user, CD Projekt RED won’t pay dividends this year as part of its plan to finance completely on its own the marketing efforts for the much anticipated Cyberpunk 2077.

“It says that CD Projekt was first and only gaming company to pay a dividend to stakeholders in 2017 (PLN 101M ~$30M), but their board recently agreed they won’t be paying a dividend this year,” user Jemiide says mentioning a feature from a Polish website.

Cyberpunk 2077 Could Release Sooner Than Expected

“Accumulated cash they gathered in 2017 is PLN 650M (~$200M), which hints if they don’t want to pay Dividend, they want to spend it on the promotion of the new game instead and that the release is very, very close.”

Indeed, this could mean that the release of the game is expected if not for calendar 2018, at least for its financial 2018 year, which should end in the first half of 2019.

Considering we’ve been waiting for ages, Cyberpunk 2077 could be much closer than anticipated, even though not as close as one would hope. 6-12 months would still be required after the proper E3 2018 showcase in June.

We won’t hold our breath, but it really looks like things are starting to finally ramp up for the follow up to The Witcher franchise…
