I’m still having a lot of fun, quite honestly, and one of the things I feel are rather satisfying are the dimensions of the open world map. I feel like Ubisoft needs to add more variety in the environments, but not that it should get bigger.
Interestingly, the developer thinks exactly like me about this topic, since Ghost Recon Breakpoint map’s going to be the same size as Wildlands, as shared in a recent interview by the development team at Ubisoft Montreal.
“I won’t compare it to Far Cry but what I can say is it’s as big as Wildlands,” said creative director Eric Couzian, and again I feel that’s just fine since the previous game was already so big and so much a departure from what Ghost Recon had offered thus far.
As you might’ve heard, while Wildlands was set in Bolivia and only had one kind of environment which was rather harsh in terms of visuals, Breakpoint’s Aurora will feature multiple biomas at the same time, with even one filled with snow.
So, Ubisoft is just making sure it offers more things throughout the map instead of going bigger for the sake of doing so, and I couldn’t appreciate that more after coming from open world games like Just Cause 4 that were filled with giant environments empty inside.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint is releasing on October 4, 2019. Are you joining the party on day one, perhaps with your friends? Let us know in the comments below!
