Google has just launched a new gaming startup which is set to focus on mobile experiences to enjoy with friends. “Arcade” – this is the name of the startup – is part of Area 120, a division where employees are free to set up new little efforts that will eventually become part of the main organization.

Google Social Gaming Division "Arcade"

Arcade, which is called a “very early experiment”, is being led by a 21 year old former Facebook intern, Michael Sayman, and is expected to drop its first game, a trivia-like mobile application, as early as this summer.

It is worth mentioning that Niantic Labs, the company behind Pokemon Go, was also born as a part of the Google network, becoming independent in 2015 after the success of its first app, Ingress.

Talking to Bloomberg, a spokesperson confirmed to news and added that the company is set to be “focused on mobile gaming with friends”. “It’s a very early experiment so there aren’t many details to share right now,” he added.

It’s not a coincidence that Google is giving the get-go to such experiment, as a cloud based console has also said to be in the making and could be revealed anytime now under the direction of former Sony and Microsoft’s exec Phil Harrison.
