Showtime has finally greenlit the Halo TV series, and we’ll be watching it on television, worldwide, presumably in a couple years. The first season will span across 10 episodes, and then we’ll see whether it’s the case to have more of them along the way.
The series has been announced five years ago in a partnership signed by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and Showtime, and will finally be directed and executive producer Rupert Wyatt, of Rise of the Planet of the Apes fame.
Back when the series was announced, Spielberg was said to be the executive producer himself, but now it seems he is no longer directly attached to the producer, so his only involvement will be the link with Amblin.
Kyle Killen (Awake) will be the executive producer, writer and showrunner, so when it comes to spamming a Twitter account in order to learn more details about when the series is dropping or how it’ll work, here’s the person you need to look for.
The Halo series’ production will kick off in early 2019, and it’ll be lead by Amblin Entertainment’s TV arm, Microsoft and 343 Industries, which will take care of the series’ respect for the lore and the characters.
