As you might remember, the Japanese platform holder has been quite supportive for what matters cross-play, although Sony isn’t keen enough to have a full investment on it with its PlayStation 4.

Nintendo In Talks For Cross-Play With Other Parties

“Cross-play basically comes about from conversations between publishers and platform holders,” executive officer Sumusu Tanaka said.

“We are inclined to do what we can to help publishers incorporate cross-play when that is what they want. The other parties involved also have a say in whether we are able to reach this outcome or not, so we will continue to discuss it with them.”

We’ve reported a few hours ago that Microsoft is further expanding on the cross-play concept, in the effort to convince third-party developers to allow players to take file saves and progressions on a game from one platform to another.

Sure enough, there’s an uncharted territory when it comes to possible interactions between the different platforms on the market, and Microsoft and Nintendo are among those companies which are willing to explore it.
