Pokémon GO battling is heating up as the latest changes coming to the game look to make some significant changes to the Pokémon stats appraisal system. There are also changes coming to the charged attack mechanic that happens in Trainer Battles. Today, developer Niantic offered a glimpse of what to expect with a 30-second preview of the updated features.

The first change is to the appraisal system for stat checking. It provides more detailed information on what quality of stats your Pokémon possesses after you’ve caught them, showing the level of attack, defense, and HP of the Pokémon. The system also provides further stats that help players judge the quality of the Pokémon. This adjustment could potentially be a response to Pokémon IV apps that have become common for trainer battling.

The second change to the game comes to the trainer battles. In its current form, the charged attack requires players to tap on the screen as fast as they can to charge up the move for devastating effects. The new mechanic requires a little more skill. The display shows a line of areas that players need to tap via a swipe to increase the power of the move, like tapping in a zigzag motion shown on screen. The preview shows that each charged move has a different pattern with separate effects. They have demonstrations for Feraligatr, Scizor, and Rhydon. It’s a nice little change that offers a much more satisfying quality of life improvement instead of wearing out the tip of your fingers.

There’s no release date for both the new features should provide a refreshing update for those looking to up their GO Battling game.
