The third and final legendary bear is unlike its brethren. Released with a lackluster drip feed, the Legendary Golden Spirit Bear is not a random encounter like the previous bears. The encounter is similar to Legendary Bounties from the Bounty Hunter role and must be initiated through the correct NPC. The bear can be sampled or killed for rewards, money, or clothing.
This week’s bear is locked behind a sighting mission from Harriet. These updates are less common than the free roam encounters but overall easier. They can be played multiple times to quickly gather all the rewards and fill the animal field guide. To complete the Golden Spirit Bear’s section in the field guide, you will need to track the animal once, kill it once, skin it once, take at least one photograph and sample it once.
To initiate the encounter, you will need to speak with Harriet’s. We hope for your sake you haven’t killed too many animals lately. If you have, Harriet will spray you with her hallucinogenic concoction. After a brief cooldown, you can interact with Harriet again.
If you haven’t done Golden Spirit Bear’s sighting mission yet, the mission will appear at the bottom of the rotating list in Harriet’s mission selection screen. It will be at the bottom regardless of the rotation selection. After you do this mission, it will be added to the rotation. Keep coming back to Harriet and check her missions regularly to complete all of it.
To begin the mission:
- Go to any of Harriet’s locations and speak with her
- Select Missions
- Select the Golden Spirit Bear mission at the bottom of the list
After selecting the mission, Harriet will talk to you briefly about the bear as it loads. Follow the prompts in the mission to find the bear. The first will be more cinematic and have an impressive cutscene with the bear. Repeat missions will be less theatrical, but you may run into the original multiple times.
The bear can be sampled and skinned, but not in the same mission. If you kill it, only one member of your posse can have the pelt. If you sample it, everyone in your posse will get the sample. In order to fully complete the animal field guide, you will need to repeat the mission.
