Minecraft’s 1.14 update introduced Blast Furnaces, which are used for smelting ores, and smeltable armor and tools. While you can come across Blast Furnaces in villages, it is also possible to make your own, if you have the right materials!
How to Make a Blast Furnace
To make a Blast Furnace, you will need;
- 5 Iron Ingots
- 1 Furnace
- 3 Smooth Stone
The top row should be all Iron Ingots, the middle row should be an Iron Ingot on either side and a Furnace in the middle, and the bottom row should be all smooth stone.
And that’s it! When using your Blast Furnace, it works similarly to the normal Furnace, but it can only smelt Ore related blocks. Because they can smelt Ore at twice the speed of a normal furnace, they will give less experience when you collect items from them.
You will need the resource you wish to smelt, and also fuel. Just pop them both into the Blast Furnace, and it will start working away to smelt the resource. While the Blast Furnace can smelt things at twice the speed of a normal Furnace, it will also use twice as much fuel, so keep that in mind. If you need help making other items in Minecraft, we also have guides on how to make saddles and beds. If you are looking for a new pet, we can help you to tame foxes.
