A new report by Eurogamer claims that Crackdown 3 is “in a tough spot,” despite the recent delay that had apparently put the game in a much better shape – something of which we have watched at E3 2018.

Based on the report, we learn that many developers are unsatisfied with the project in terms of how it has been managed and especially about the fact that they are going to do more crunch on a game they think is going to be a failure, no matter how much money Microsoft pours on it.

“Fast forward to 2018 and Crackdown 3 is in a tough spot. It’s suffered multiple delays, met with apathy online and was even rumored to be canceled. Behind the scenes, developers – a raft of developers – have worked hard to turn Crackdown 3 into a real video game that will actually come out,” claims Eurogamer.

“They have faced multiple challenges along the way, which, people close to the project speaking with Eurogamer anonymously have indicated, has a lot to do with that pesky cloud-powered multiplayer, its “100 percent destructible environments” and exactly who is – and isn’t – working on the game.”

“After Microsoft decided to delay Crackdown 3 yet again – the final time the company is willing to do so, I’ve heard – the many developers working on it were faced with at least another six months of work after having previously thought they’d be done with the project in June 2018. For many of the developers working on Crackdown 3, this latest delay means potentially more crunch for what some expect will be a disappointment of a release no matter how much money and resources Microsoft throws at it.”

It’s definitely disappointing to hear about this again. The project itself looked highly compromised after its initial disappearance, especially last year’s E3 was definitely not up to the expectations, but the latest quick taste of it we had at the Xbox media briefing was quite reassuring.

Anyway, it seems it’s not the case and, no matter how much Microsoft tries and rescues it, the game is not going to be any good when it releases in early 2019. Hopefully, the report gets debunked ahead of day one.
