Best Races For Druids in World of Warcraft: Tanks, DPS, and More

To make the best Druid in World of Warcraft, players should know which race will benefit their gameplay the most.

Druids are one of the most versatile classes a player can choose in World of Warcraft. While limited by specific races that can or can’t be Druids, there is still enough variety to determine which ones are the best Druids.

Seven races can become Druids in World of Warcraft. Thankfully a much bigger number compared to WoW Classic which allows only two races to be Druids: Night Elves and Tauren. Choosing which races make the best Druids ultimately comes down to what the player is looking for and wants to prioritize. Each race will provide specific enhancements that will benefit different styles of Druid gameplay.

Best Races for Tank Druids in WoW

To build a Druid who takes on the mantle of the tank in the party, players will need to build a Guardian Druid. Guardian Druids use their rage to fuel their abilities and to optimize healing in addition to Thick Hide, which reduces the amount of damage taken. The following races have the best active and passive abilities that work for the tank role.

Tauren

Tauren has Brawn, which gives a critical strike damage bonus and a healing increase of 2%. Their stamina increases based on the level of the character, and with War Stomp, they can stun up to 5 opponents within an 8-yard radius for 2 seconds. They are naturally able to incapacitate groups of enemies when charging ahead while being able to deal with the brunt of the damage.

Highmountain Tauren

This is one of the sturdier races available for the Druid class, with racial traits that concentrate on reducing damage and increasing healing. The Highmountain Tauren has natural ways to reduce damage taken with Rugged Tenacity and Bull Ruch that lets the players charge forward to knock enemies down for 1.5 seconds. The Highmountain Tauren also has Mountaineer, which increases versatility by 1%.

Kul Tiran

The Kul Tiran offers abilities that increase the damage dealt, reduce damage, and give a bit of an increase in health when healed. Kul Tiran has the Haymaker ability, which deals 20 physical damages, knocks back enemies, and stuns them for three seconds. They also have Brush it Off, which increases versatility by 1% and heals the character for 2% of taken damage over 4 seconds. Kul Tiran has a natural resistance to Frost and Nature damage.

To build a DPS Druid, players can choose from a Balance Druid or a Feral Druid, depending on the type of playstyle they want. Balance Druids concentrate on spell casting, dealing range magical damage to opponents. Feral Druids are melee damage dealers that use energy-fueled attacks and combo points to lead up to devastating finishing blows.

Night Elf

Night Elves are quick with their natural increase of chances to dodge melee and ranged attacks by 2% and an increase in movement speed by 2%. They also have Touch of Elune, which increases haste by 1% during the night and increases critical strike by 1% during the day. Night Elves work best as either a Balance Druid or a Feral Druid because of their speed.

Worgen

Worgen is also a fast race with natural speed increases. They also offer an increase of critical strike by 1% with Viciousness and allow players to transform into multiple forms. This race would work best as a Feral Druid because of its enhancements with transforming and the additional boost that comes with switching to its true form, which increases movement speed by 40% for 10 seconds.

Best Races for Healing Druids in WoW

The healing version of a Druid is the Restoration Druid. These healers specialize in healing over time with a wide range of healing abilities. They can also dispel effects dragging party members down. They do not need a special shapeshifting form to perform these abilities. Although no race is made with the idea of being a sole healer, some races do have abilities that can be beneficial if players know how to use them.

Trolls

Trolls have the Berserking ability that increases their haste by 15% for 10 seconds. They also have an increase in regenerating health by 10%, which may continue during combat. Being fast and having the ability to stay alive is definitely helpful when players need you to stay alive so that they can stay alive.

Night Elves

Night Elves are fast, which is a great bonus for trying to stay alive. They also have Shadowmeld, which will stop combat and give the player a minute to do any necessary self-healing and recover mana as needed. Shadowmeld will cancel as soon as the player starts moving again, but as long as they don’t move, they can take care of themselves before going back into the fray again.

Overall Best Race for Druids in WoW

The most versatile and overall best race for Druids is the Zandalari Trolls. They have the racial Embrace of the Loa, which has six versions that span from increasing chances of healing both other targets and themself, movement speed, both instant damage dealt and damage dealt over time, armor, and critical strike. Falling speed is reduced for two minutes when the Pterrordax Swoop is activated. The biggest bonus is the increase of gold earned from creatures by 2%, a great perk for those who love farming for gold.

They may not be the prettiest or most aesthetic of the races, but they are the best race for the Druid class. If a player wishes to go solo, then this race will increase their chances of successfully playing a Druid on their own.
