The Ceremony of Eternal Bonding in Final Fantasy XIV allows players to marry that special someone in their life. Whether it’s their significant other or just a friend, you can marry whoever you want in-game. This includes players and characters of the same gender. There are no restrictions set on who you can profess your vows to, as long as you and your partner meet the requirements for the wedding quest in-game. You also get to invite your honored guests to the ceremony to share this special day with them.
The wedding ceremony takes place at the Sanctum of the Twelve in East Shroud within the Ivory Chapel. You can select how elaborate you want your ceremony to be with either the free Standard Plan or the paid Gold or Platinum Plans that require real money to purchase. The differences between each plan are really only cosmetic, so there’s no pressure to spend money if you don’t want to.
The Ceremony of Eternal Bonding
Just like a wedding in real life, you can customize your experience. Select the mood and atmosphere for your ceremony, which will play out through cutscenes for everyone. You’ll have the procession, the ring exchange, and the final recession afterward. The Gold and Platinum Plans allow the newlyweds to leave the ceremony on an over-the-top gondola.
- The Lover’s Kiss: Light-hearted ceremony officiated by a Choir Moogle. Ends with a kiss between the newlyweds.
- The Spinner’s Hand: More traditional in terms of lore within the Twelveswood. Ends with a toast between the newlyweds.
- The Solemn Oath: The newlyweds sign an official pact to one another at the end of the ceremony.
You and your partner can invite a number of guests to the wedding. You each have 40 invitations to send out, for a total of 80 guests. The waiting lobby before the ceremony may be a bit crowded with that many people, but there will be plenty of room for everyone to sit within the Ivory Chapel itself. You can send out your invitations via the Moogle delivery service, or trade them to players directly. The invitations contain the date and time for your ceremony, which is when guests will be allowed to enter the lobby through the Sanctum of the Twelve.
You’ll go through the process for everything while completing the quest “The Ties that Bind,” located just outside the Sanctum of the Twelve. Picking out your wedding attire (characters regardless of gender can wear the tuxedo or the dress), purchasing wedding favors, and more are all detailed throughout the quest. This quest becomes available after scheduling your ceremony through the Mog Station.
Scheduling your wedding ceremony
Head to the Mog Station on your web browser and log in. You’ll find the Ceremony of Eternal Bond scheduling under the Optional Items tab. There you can select between the Standard, Gold, or Platinum Plans while picking out your promise wristlet, adding them to your cart. Proceed to the checkout once you’re done. If you selected anything that you need to pay for, you’ll receive the prompt to enter your payment information.
Once you’re done, keep an eye out for your Moogle mail in-game. You and your partner will receive your promise wristlets, which will allow you to start “The Ties that Bind.”
To begin the quest, you and your partner will need to equip your promise wristlets; then, speak with Claribel at Sanctum of the Twelve in East Shroud (X: 17.5 Y:18.2). To undertake the quest, you’ll need to have at least one job at level 50, and you’ll need to have completed the main scenario quest “The Scions of the Seventh Dawn.” If for some reason you are already married to someone else, then you’ll need to annul that arrangement first. Claribel will then guide you through the entire process for your wedding.
After the wedding, you and your partner will have your Eternity Rings. You can use these rings to teleport to the aetheryte crystal nearest to your partner. You’ll also have your wedding anniversary to look forward to, where you’ll revisit “The Ties that Bind” quest in a special way.
