Borderlands 3 is going to be huge. Like, really huge. So huge that your base of operations is a giant spaceship that you need to be able to travel between all the different world’s that you’re going to have to visit in the game. With such a vast map to cover, you’re going to need to be able to travel from point A to point B in vehicles. No more walking for you, not if you want to complete the game sometime before you die of old age.

This Borderlands 3 Vehicles preview guide takes a look at all the things you need to know about the modes of transport that will be available for you to drive, ride, and fly as you chase down the Calypso twins.

Borderlands 3: Vehicles

Catch-A-Ride

More Places To Catch-A-Ride

Scooter was not only a personal favorite of mine, but he was a gosh darn hero and died in a way that all true heroes would have wanted to go, saving his compatriots from certain death at the sacrifice of his own life. It was one of the best parts from the criminally underrated Tales From The Borderlands, and it cut me up in a way that I hadn’t experienced in video games since Aeris bit the big one back in Final Fantasy VII. Sadly, they will be no Lazarus like a resurrection for Ol’ Scooter, he’s gone and ain’t coming back, but the Catch-A-Ride stations will be returning with full effect in Borderlands 3, and by all accounts, there’s going to be a whole lot more of them. With the game being spread out across multiple locations, and each of these planets being the size of, well, a planet, you’re going to need to be able to traverse their lands as easily as possible. Like I mentioned in the intro to this guide, you’re not going to be able to walk everywhere as it’d just take far too long to do so more Catch-A-Ride stations at more regular intervals means that you won’t be trudging unimaginable distances each time you get your vehicle blown to the heavens.

Ellie Borderlands

Steal An Enemies Vehicle If You Want That Whip

Whatever version of Borderlands you’ve played there’s always been a moment when you’ve been on your travels, and seen enemies ride and thought to yourself “Damn, I’d love to have me some of that.” Well, suffer from the sin of envy no longer amigo, as all you have to do to get that sweet whip for yourself in Borderlands 3 is steal the damn thing. Once it’s in your possession, take it to Ellie, and she’ll scan it into Catch-A-Ride so you can use it all for yourself whenever the mood takes you.

Customisation

Customization Is King!!!

Customization is King when it comes to the world of Borderlands 3, and it’s not just because of all the choices available for your character either. No, the vehicles get a whole raft of items, weapons, skins, and wheels with which you can spend countless hours tinkering around with. Want a machine built just for speed? Then that’s as simple as slapping the fastest set of treads on it that you can. Want a vehicle that wouldn’t look out of place in Death Race 2000? Then grab some funky skins, slap on some spikes, and load that son bitch up with enough weaponry to level an entire city. The only limit to what you can do is your own imagination.

Vehicles

There’s A Ride For Everyone

There’s a lot of choices when it comes to your mode of transport in Borderlands 3. Outside of the standard vehicles that will be returning in the game, there are a few new ones for you to play around with. The best two of which are the hover-car, which has to be one of the coolest things I’ve seen since the ending of Back To The Future. It is the one that I will most definitely not be using to live out my Marty McFly fantasies, no siree Bob, and the Cyclone, which is a motorcycle with a single massive wheel that encircles it, allowing you to tear up the tarmac at break-neck speed and look like a hipster while doing so.
