Control – How To Defeat Hiss-corrupted Tommasi

The secret to beating Hiss-corrupted Tommasi is to understand that he can kill you much quicker than you can kill him. Because of his large health bar, ability to zip through the air, and the incredible damage he can inflict on you, you need to be careful. You cannot trade damage with him. This encounter is a cat and mouse game.

Tommasi will float in the air, calling shards of rock into existence which he throws at you. If these hit you, they take nearly half your health, so you cannot afford to let him land shots on you. He also summons in Guards and exploding Hiss enemies while fighting you.

If you stay on the ground, taking shots at him is complicated. You are open to getting hit by the guards. If you go all the way up to the next level, he destroys you with rock shards.

I find the best way to take him on is to operate on the staircase itself. You can easily walk down them to block the shards, and the summons have no precise angle on you. This strategy means they have to walk close to you, and you can easily pick them off. You have a significant advantage, and the health crystals they drop will be close to you. You won’t need to break from cover to heal up if Tommasi hits you with the shards.

All you need here is patience. Take shots at Tommasi when you can. But you can only hit him once in the air. You need to try and land most of your damage when he is charging up his rock shards. He also dodges anything you throw at him with Telekinesis. Use the stairs to pivot between aiming high at Tommasi, and low at the guards when they come. If an exploding enemy shows up, hit them with an object using Telekinesis to destroy their shield, then finish them off with your gun.
