This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

The Truth has returned to Destiny 2. In this guide we will take you through the quests, step by step.

The Truth is an Exotic Rocket Launcher from Destiny 1 that has made it’s way back to Destiny 2 in the new Season of Opulence. It’s main perk causes the rockets it fires to aggressively hunt down and track enemies, meaning it is great for sending rockets around corners in PvP and slapping your foes into little lumps of charred Guardian. In this guide, we will run through all the steps for the Truth.

The guide will be updated throughout the day as more steps are discovered.

How To Finish The Truth Quest In Destiny 2

Step 1

For your first step, you need to get your hands on an Awoken script, which you can get by completing a run in the Menagerie on Calus’ Leviathan.

Step 2

Once you have the Awoken Script, it is off to find Petra Venj in the Dreaming City. Talk to her, and she will send you off on the next stage of the quest.

Step 3

For this step, you will need to complete one of Petra’s ascendant challenge bounties. Once you open the Ascendant chest, you will find a partial map, and a note. This week’s Ascendant Challenge is in the Bay of Drowned Wishes, and is a the long jumping challenge. As such, it’s not the worst one to have if you are playing solo.

Step 4 – A Map Asunder

This appears to be the main meat of the Truth Quest, as we need to decode four pieces of a map. Now, while the quest currently seems to be bugged and you can pick up all the pieces from Petra if you go back to her, this will probably be fixed soon. After a lot of hard work by all kinds of members of the Destiny 2 community, the correct way to get the different map pieces has been discovered. I’m going go through the steps to take to get each map piece, then below that section will be a description of the challenge you need to complete to decode each fragment.

How To Get The First Map Piece

This first map piece can be gotten from an Ascendant chest you can find while patrolling the Dreaming City. The easiest one to get is right in the entrace to the Blind Well. Just pop a Tincture of Queensfoil so that you can see the platforms you need to climb, then make your way to the top.

How To Get The Second Map Piece

Nessus Map

To get the second map fragment can be found in the Cistern. Once again, you will need to climb some Ascendant platforms, so will need more Tincture of Queensfoil. Just head for the area show on the map above, then look out across the lake of Vex Milk, go close to the shore and you will see the first platform. Climb up to grab the chest that contains the map piece.

How To Get The Third Map Piece

The third piece cab be found in the Hive ship on the Tangle Shore, in the Jetsam of Saturn region. Just head down into the ship as if you were playing the Mindbender mission and you will eventually come to a giant Ogre. Kill this enemy to get the third map fragment.

How To Get The Fourth Map Piece

The fourth map piece can be picked up by simply completing any Nightfall strike. You don’t have to do anything special to get it, just play a Nightfall and complete it.

Piece 1

Map Piece 1

To decode this map piece, kill Hive on the Tangled Shore. More challenging Hive are worth more progress.

Piece 2

Map Piece 2

You decode this piece, you need to complete Nightfalls while under a power handicap of 100. You also need to kill 60 enemies in a Nightfall with Rocket Launchers.

Piece 3

Map Piece 3

To decode this map piece, you need to turn in a Corsair Down badge at the Dreaming city. You will need to farm Skorn enemies until one of the drops the item. After that, do the Corsair Down bounty as you normally would by decipher the clue and finding the body. Kill the Skorn that appears, then take the completed badge to the Corsair in the Divalian Mists.

Piece 4

Map Piece 4

To decode the final piece, you need to head for Nessus, take a Tincture of Queensfoil, and then kill 50 enemies with a Rocket Launcher while you are Ascendant.

Step 5

(Information after this point has been datamined. I have included it because it appears to be accurate. I shall update the guide as soon as I play throught his content. )

You will need to play through the Warden of Nothing strike, and find an Ascendant Chest there. This means you will need yet another Tincture of Queensfoil. Upon completion of the Strike, you will get The Truth, as long as you found the chest.

As you play through the Strike, you will need to look around to find four objects to interact with. They seem to look like a mini version of the device you use to talk to the Queen in the Dream City. You need to interact with all four of them to make the platforms appear at the end of the Strike. Once you have found them all, play through the Strike and kill the boss. When he dies, an Ascendant platform will appear. Follow the path of platforms until you reach the chest, which contains the Truth Exotic Rocket Launcher. Your time here will be limited, and you will only have 90 seconds to get it, so thread carefully!

Here is a video (nice and short) from MillGaming, showing where to find 5 of the relics.

Step 6

Visit Werner 99-40 at the Imperial Barge on Nessus. It appears Calus is interested in your relationship with the Awoken.
