If you have spent years putting hundreds, or thousands, of hours into Destiny 2, you may have been looking at the upcoming release of the new consoles with a sense of trepidation. You will have put a lot of money into the game, buying not just the game itself, but expansions, DLCs, and you will have even dropped money on a Season Pass or four.

The good news is that Bungie has announced that Destiny 2 will be moving forward to the new consoles, and will be a Smart Delivery game for Xbox Series X. Whatever you have already bought by the time the news consoles release will move forward with you, and there will be no reason to repurchase all the things that you already own.

This is fantastic news for Destiny 2 fans everywhere that are eager to jump forward when the next generation of consoles releases. This support is not just limited to Xbox Series X, as the game will be offering the same to PlayStation users.

On top of Smart Delivery, Destiny 2 will also have cross-generation-play, so if you are buying an Xbox Series X and are worrying you won’t be able to play with your buddies who will need to wait longer to get the new console, then you don’t need to worry about that either. You will still be able to play with the same Raid team, even if some of your friends can’t jump on the new console bandwagon at the same time as you.

As long-time Destiny 2 players, we are very excited to hear all this news and the planned long term support that Bungie has planned for the game, and the systems it is putting in place to keep the community together.
