Dragon Quest Builders 2 is finally here, offering players a unique Minecraft-like experience like no other.
The game boasts a 40-hour story, RPG elements, and plenty of things to craft and make among other things in what is undoubtedly one of the best games of the year. As well as new features like gliding, the game also allows players to work together to complete quests or build together in multiplayer.
But it isn’t like anyone would know that at first glance.
The only options available to a player when they launch the game is to start a new game and redeem any bonus items or codes they might have from the season pass. A multiplayer option is nowhere on the main menu. This choice was because Square Enix decided to lock the much-loved feature behind the story mode.
To unlock multiplayer as an option, you need to beat the first chapter of the game’s main story. That might sound simple at first, the first chapter takes about 8-10 hours to complete after going through everything else before it, so you have a long time to wait.
A blue portal then opens up on the Island of Awakening, which gives you the option to join or create a multiplayer lobby online or locally.
After that, you can play with your friends to your heart’s content.
