Torghast is a struggle that never ends, including the amount of bosses you will face each time you complete a wing in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. The Elder Longbranch boss is a test of endurance, which is saying something for a tower designed around the idea of surviving wave after wave of torture. Let’s dive in and figure out how to burn this tree to the ground.
There’s no easy way to say this: Elder Longbranch is a nightmare. It has a ton of health and can bulldoze you in seconds if you aren’t careful. The one advantage any of your characters can wield is speed; Elder Longbranch hits hard, but it doesn’t move very quickly. You’ll need to exploit this during the fight.
The high HP is compunded with Hardened Shell, which can stack several times. Elder Longbranch starts the fight with nine stacks of Hardened Power, you’ll need to find a way to dispel all of the Hardened Power before going after the boss with any damage.
Crush damages you and stuns you for two seconds, which can spell disaster if you don’t get out of the way before a followup attack. You’ll get attacked in a cone shape directly in front of Elder Longbranch, so make sure you dodge. Don’t bother interrupting this attack, because you need to save that for the one remaining ability.
Bounty of the Forest has the potential to heal 12% of Elder Longbranch’s total HP, which is the last thing you want for a boss so high on defense. If you miss your window to interrupt the spell, it can be dispelled, but every HP you knock off this boss is going to be precious, so don’t let it have anything back.
Settle in and prepare for a marathon if Elder Longbranch appears at the end of your Torghast Run, but don’t panic. Keep on your feet and you can win this.
