When you’re quickly using abilities in the middle of combat, you can easily fumble in a fight if you momentarily forget what button fires off specific attacks. Because you’re consistently switching out mutant abilities in Rad, you may develop a preference or an expectation when you hit a particular button. Here’s how you can switch up the mutant abilities you acquire in Rad that you need to fire off to activate.

How To Change Mutant Ability Buttons in Rad

Switching Buttons

The fastest way to switch the buttons you’re presently using is by hitting the Remap Mutations button. When you’re on mouse and keyboard, you’re going to hit the “Caps Lock” key. If you’re using a controller, you’re going to hit the left directional button your d-pad. From here, you’re going to click the button of the ability you want to change. The default buttons for mouse and keyboard are the right mouse button, the middle mouse button, and the up key. For the controller, it’s going to be the right trigger, left trigger, and the right bumper buttons.

The process is as follows: you hit the remap button. Then, you hit the mutation button you want to change, and you choose from one of the two other options to link it to that button. During your run, whenever you hit that button, you’re going to activate that mutant ability. If you had a mutant ability attached to the second option, it’s going to jump over to the first ability’s button. If you don’t have anything there, then the next mutant ability you acquire is going to link to that open key.

Changing Up the Key Configuration

For those who are not enjoying the default key or button configuration of the game, you change these choices in the options menu. Click on the Options in your main menu, go to Controls, and you’ll find yourself in the key configuration page. The main three buttons you’re looking for are the “Use Mutation 1”, “Use Mutation 2,” and “Use Mutation 3,” options. These are going to change what buttons or keys you use to activate your mutant abilities. Those on a mouse and keyboard are going to have more options than those who are using a controller.

You can make any other button or key modifications from this screen to fit your playstyle better.
