How to get Trace Override in Destiny 2 – Season of Arrivals

The Destiny 2 grind is real.

The new season of Destiny 2 features a variety of ways for you to upgrade your gear to prepare for the fourth year of the game with the upcoming release of Beyond Light. This season, Season of Arrivals, you will be working with Eris and the Drifter to discover how you can use the darkness as a weapon moving forward. You will need to interact with the Prismatic Recaster, which you will be using for the rest of the season, and you need Trace Override to unlock the best engrams available.

Trace Override will only become available to you once you have unlocked Umbral Research Level 7. You can reach this level of Umbral Research by regularly completing the bounties available at the Prismatic Recaster and turning them each day, and every week. The more you turn in, the more rewards you can receive. You will need Twisted Energy to do so, which is the new form of currency. When you gain access to Trace Override, it costs 5 legendary shards to unlock.

You need to use Trace Override to unlock the Improved Armor focusing engrams available at the Prismatic Recaster. These are on the bottom of the Umbral Focusing screen. Every player is limited to a certain amount of Trace Override each week, so you need to make sure you use it on the engrams you want to receive, and you need to choose wisely to make the proper build for your Destiny 2 character. To gain access to the Improved Armor focusing engrams, you will also need to unlock it on the Season of Arrivals pass, and the first one becomes available to you at level 72.

Once you gain access to the engram you will be able to choose the primary stat of the armor you want to pull from the engram.
