In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you can entice other characters to come and live on your island, but after that, you need to play the friend game. The friendlier you are with other residents, the more likely they are to give you gifts and rewards. This is important, as some pretty rare items can only be gotten as gifts from other villagers.
There are a couple of things you can do to improve your relationship with other villagers on your island. Talking to them every day is vital, they will always have some little story to tell you, so just chat with each villager at least once a day to make sure they all feel appreciated and part of the community.
Gifts are another great way to increase your friendship level with a villager. You can give them gifts at any time, and they don’t need to be expensive or rare. Any little thing will help you become better friends. Finally, birthday presents. Giving a villager a present on their birthday is a surefire way to become fast friends.
Unfortunately, there is no way in the game to check your friendship level, so you will just need to keep being nice to the villagers all the time to make sure you are friends with them all.
You will know for sure that you are great friends with another villager if they give you a framed photo of themselves to hang on your wall. You can try and create a gallery of friends to show off to the visitors to your island.
