Those who enjoyed Until Dawn are going to genuinely enjoy Man of Medan, the next game from the same developers, Supermassive Games. There’s a bit more going on in Man of Medan with there being more stories, but there’s no end to difficult, heart-wrenching choices. Previously, in Until Dawn, there was a single-player controlling the game. Those who wanted to play with friends could pass the controller to one another, but they had to be in the same room. Now, Man of Medan does the hard work for you and has a multiplayer already set up for eager horror fans wanting to share the experience with their friends.

How to Play Multiplayer in Man of Medan

Movie Night

You have two options available for those interested in trying out Man of Medan‘s multiplayer experience. The first is the far more traditional method of playing it on the couch with your friends, and it’s called Movie Night. Rather than assigning a particular character for someone to play, and then handing the controller to them, you get this option before the game starts. The main cast consists of five main characters, so you’re going to want to have up to five friends playing the game with you. However, if you have less, that works too. You can still play the game, as the left out characters get assigned the players in the game. It works similarly to what you may have done for Until Dawn, but now this feature comes to the game.

It makes things a lot easier for those who may forget to pass the controller to their friend in the middle of a session. During certain portions of the game, Man of Medan is going to provide everyone with a summary of their current progress with their character.

Shared Story

The other method is to play it online. However, it works a little different than playing on the couch with your friends. This mode is called Shared Story. You can play it online with a friend, but you can only play it with a single friend. So there’s only two of you playing the game. Additionally, both parties must have a copy of the game to play it together. One person can’t have the game and then invite their friend from a different computer.

At the start of the game, players choose a character they want to play as amongst the cast. Both players are going to play the game together, much like a more traditional cooperative experience. For everyone playing, it’s going to feel like they’re playing a single-player game, because they can freely walk around and exchange the other characters, along with your friend’s character. Players do not share anything. If one player character found a useful item, the other player’s character cannot access it. The only thing the two players share are premonitions, which happened in Until Dawn. These provide the players with visions of the future, hinting at what good and bad, can occur based on their choices.

To locate each other to play a game of Shared Story, you need to go to, “Don’t Play Alone.” From there, you can create a lobby and invite your friend to join you in the haunting adventure.

Those are the two methods available to players to try out multiplayer in Man of Medan.
