It’s now available on Switch, but here’s when you can expect the PC release of Devolver’s latest.
The latest in the wacky catalog of Devolver Digital, Deadtoast Entertainment’s My Friend Pedro, is due for release today.
Based on a flash game that was initially made for Adult Swim Games in 2014, the game is a side-scrolling shoot ’em up with a heavy emphasis on style. Shoot your way through many levels with abilities (including awesome slow-mo) and weapons as your friend Pedro guides you. Except that your friend Pedro is a banana. With a Mexican accent. If that doesn’t give you an idea of how bonkers crazy this game is, nothing will. The launch trailer gives you a great sense of the type of humor that you can expect, and we can’t wait to play it.
If you’re fortunate enough to have a Nintendo Switch, the game is now unlocked and available to purchase on the Nintendo eShop, download and play.
But if you’re waiting on the release of the game on PC, the game is due to launch on Steam today, but you’ll have to wait just a little bit longer. The game’s unlock time is approximately four hours from now, meaning that the game should be ready to download at 11 am EST, and 8 am PST. While this is only an estimate and could be delayed, this is unlikely with the Switch version releasing without a hitch.
As a launch offer, the game is currently available with a 15% discount, taking the usual price of $16.99 down to $14.44. It’s available right up until July 9, so if the mad-cap action of the gameplay already shown isn’t enough to tickle your banana, there is plenty of time to see how the game runs and plays from the community before digging into some bloody shooting action yourself.
Alternatively, the original flash game can still be found and played online through various online flash gaming websites, such as Armour Games, if you want to play some of the first Pedro action yourself. While it won’t be as feature-full as the new game’s release, it will provide you with enough insight into the style of the game in case you want to take the plunge yourself. It’s also still a lot of fun!
We hope you enjoy both the PC and the Switch versions of My Friend Pedro, available as of today.
