This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Is there a way for you to go about changing the Sync Pairs Pokemon, or even your starting Pikachu?

Pokemon Masters is a straightforward Pokemon experience. Players are not going to wander around looking for new Pokemon to their roster. Instead, they’re going to focus on the Sync Pairs, which include famous Pokemon trainers and their ideal Pokemon choices. While there’s a focus of Sync Pairs in the game, some players are curious if they switch out these Sync Pairs for a new combination.

Can You Change Your Pokemon in Pokemon Masters?

You cannot change your Pokemon beyond the given Sync Pairs already enlisted in the game. The developers kept the game simple, ensuring starting players do not get overtaken by the usual amount of variety from the Pokemon games. The only changes players can make to their Sync Pairs is by evolving the select Pokemon if they have the option.

Players can see if they have the option when they view their Sync Pair in the Dex section of their Polyphone. Clicking on this area brings up the 65 different Sync Pairs available in the game. Pick one of the Sync Pairs, and you should see that trainer and their Pokemon in the menu. Underneath the Pokemon, you should see a series of numbers signifying how many times you can evolve that particular Pokemon. We have a guide already on our website detailing how you go about evolving a Pokemon.

Every player in the game starts with a Pikachu as their main Pokemon. For now, the developers have not opened up the game enough to allows players the opportunity to switch out their starter Pokemon.

More Sync Pairs are going to come out in the future. These may feature some of the current trainers in the game with new Pokemon. For example, there are two versions of Brock. You have the traditional Brock and Onyx combination, and then the Sygna Suit Brock and Tyranitar pair. The new pair comes with a new move set for Tyranitar. Pokemon Masters may include other Sygna Suit versions of the iconic trainers, changing up how players use their Sync Pairs. However, you cannot go out and capture wild Pokemon or change up the Sync Pairs in the game.
