Remnant: From the Ashes – New Game Plus Guide

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

When it comes to New Game Plus, Remnant: From The Ashes mixes things up quite a bit from how it is traditionally handled in games.

Remnant: From The Ashes likes to stray off the beaten path with specific mechanics. One of these is how New Game Plus works after beating the game. Traditionally, the New Game Plus increases the game’s difficulty a bit on your second run. However, in Remnant: From The Ashes, you can start a New Game Plus run whenever you like.

Remnant: From the Ashes – New Game Plus Guide

Difficulty and New Game Plus interact strangely in Remnant: From The Ashes. By going to the crystal in Ward 13, you can choose World Settings to alter the overall difficulty, but doing so starts a new game.

You keep your character’s progression and gear, but the world seed gets rerolled. This action means the items, bosses, and dungeons appear in different places. New items and NPCs can end up in your game that you did not meet before, and areas you already discovered might have changed to some degree.

You start the game from the beginning with your character intact, but there’s a whole new layout to the game. While the overworld feels familiar, the placement of Dungeons and items all change. Unfortunately, it is not possible to alter the difficulty without rerolling the world, and mixing up all the content.

It is something I would only really recommend if you have moved past the point of being challenged in your current game. If you started at Normal difficulty, but find no challenge with the enemies, then reolling is worth doing. If you do reroll the game, be sure to explore everywhere all over again. You may have visited these locations before, but they’re bound to have new stuff in them.
