Remnant: From The Ashes – How To Get The Pocket Watch

Being able to get the Pocket Watch boils down to the world seed. When you kill the boss in the first dungeon (it seems always to be Gorefist) and leave by using the ladder, you arrive back on the streets of the city. Make your way down the road, and you go up to a crystal. Depending on your game seed, either a strange mumbling tree or a crashed helicopter spawns here. If it is the helicopter, then you are in luck, as you can go inside and talk to Mudtooth.

Mudtooth is a vendor and a bit of a rambler, but having patience pays off. Exhaust all of his dialogue options by continuing to talk to him, and he gives you the Pocket Watch.

Now, if you didn’t get the helicopter spawn, and got the tree instead, you can still get a neat item. If you talk to the tree, you won’t be able to understand it. If you come back to it later while wearing the Twisted Mask, you gain the trait from called Bark Skin. To get the Twisted Mask, you need to hope the Mad Merchant spawns in your game and you can found him at Junk Town.

To pick a fight with him, you need to use the following dialogue options.

  • Are you okay?
  • Are you a scavenger?
  • What’s with the mask?
  • That mask is doing something to you.
  • Let me see the mask now.

You can also choose to kill the tree, which gets you the Twisted Idol. If you do this, you will not be able to get the Bark Skin trait later on, though.

If the helicopter didn’t spawn, you could also choose to re-roll the world at the main crystal in Ward 13. Doing so means you lose all world progress, but keep all character progress. It doesn’t always result in you getting the helicopter. All of it happens because of luck, but as long as you know what to look for, you should acquire the pocket watch in no time.
