Super Mario Maker 2 added a bunch of new creative options for course makers to play around with, with one of those new options being the ability to change your character.

When creating a course, you have an option to choose between Mario, Luigi, Toad, or Toadette for whatever reason you might have. Maybe the course revolves around Toad changing the day for a change, or Luigi going through a spooky mansion? Regardless of the reason, it is possible.

But how can you do this?

For starts, you can only change your character while creating a course. If playing an online course, unless you are playing multiplayer matches, you will be locked to the character the creator chose during creation.

If you are the creator though, you can change characters by going into the “Settings2 menu, which can be opened with the + button on the Joy-Con controller, and find the option to change characters there.

The character select option is located in the top right of the screen; you need to click the icon of the character you want to use and then click “OK” at the bottom for it to take effect.

The character you have chosen will then appear on the screen, and you can continue to create and finish off your course!
