Destiny 2

Warlock Shadebinder subclass guide – Destiny 2

Freeze 'em in place.

With the Darkness on the way to Destiny 2 in Beyond Light, we know that the game will be getting new subclasses based on Stasis, the power of the Darkness. During fights, Stasis can manifest in multiple ways, including freezing or slowing opponents, creating Stasis structures, and even shattering frozen combatants. The subclasses seem to be built around a combination of creation and control.

Shadebinder

Shadebinder

Shadebinder is the Warlock Stasis subclass, and focuses on freezing enemies in place, then shattering them with powerful blasts of Stasis energy. Each Stasis subclass in Beyond Light will give players the ability to customize abilities like grenades, movement modes, and class abilities. On top of that comes a new layers of customization called Aspects.

Aspects will appear in the game as items you can find and pick up, and can then be equipped to alter how different elements of your subclass work, and can even open up new abilities for you to choose from. These Aspects can be altered with Fragments, another physical item you can find in the world. Fragments will change

Shadebinder Super

The Shadebinder Super is called Winter’s Wrath. It will summon a Stasis Staff that Warlocks can use to freeze enemies, then cause an explosion to instantly shatter any frozen enemy.

Shadebinder Melee

The Shadebinder melee attack is called Penumbral Blast and it will instantly freeze and enemy in place.

Shadebinder Aspects

Frostpulse

Casting your Rift generates a shockwave that freezes nearby enemies

Shadebinder Fragments

Whisper of Bonds

Defeating Frozen targets with weapons grants you Super energy. (-10 Intellect, -10 Discipline)

For now, this is really all we know about the Shadebinder subclass, but we will be adding to this guide as Bungie make more information available, and as soon as the expansion releases on November 10 we will be chasing down every Aspect and Fragment in the game to make this guide complete.

Grenades

Glacier Grenade – Upon contact with the ground, a wall of Stasis crystals instantly burst from the earth and nearby enemies are frozen inside Stasis crystal. These grenades have multiple uses – from encasing enemies to creating cover. When destroyed, the crystals will create AoE burst damage to nearby enemies.
Coldsnap Grenade – Upon impact with the ground or an enemy, this grenade unleashes a wave of Stasis energy that races along the ground in the direction of the closest nearby enemy, freezing them and then searching out the next nearby foe. You can freeze up to three enemies with a single Coldsnap Grenade.
Duskfield Grenade – Duskfield Grenades create powerful Stasis fields that suck enemies into them when forming. Once an enemy is caught inside, they will be slowed and, if unable to make it out in time, frozen in place.
