Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds is a mobile anime RPG game developed by Level-5 and published by Netmarble. A presentation during Tokyo Game Show 2020 showcased a few minutes of gameplay for Cross Worlds. In this footage, we are able to look at various gameplay aspects, including game design, music, characters, and PVP mode.
Cross Worlds is unique to previous iterations of the Ni no Kuni franchise, as it is set to be more science-fiction driven than completely fantasy-based. In Cross Worlds, the premise is centered around a beta tester who is testing out a new virtual reality game called Soul Driver. It soon becomes apparent, though, that Soul Driver is an incredibly compelling virtual reality world that features a massive kingdom under siege by countless monsters. The protagonist must set forth on a quest to unite allies, battle back against the monsters, and ultimately protect the kingdom and its people. Cross Worlds will also include five playable character classes – A Swordsman, Witch, Rogue, Destroyer, and Engineer.
The Ni no Kuni series has featured five previous titles in total, including the most recent title to Cross Worlds, Revenant Kingdom. Cross Worlds will be released for Android and iOS in Japan sometime in 2020, while a Western release date is yet to be announced.
