You’re bound to find plenty of Pokémon in the Wild Area in Pokémon Sword and Shield. A useful Pokémon you can locate is called Elgyem; it’s a Psychic-type, which is always useful you’re fighting against Fighting or other Psychic-type Pokémon.

You have the highest chance to locate it at these places in the Wild Area:

  • Bridge Field during normal and overcast weather at a 10 percent chance, and during heavy fog at a 20 percent chance in the overworld
  • Motostoke Riverbank in dense fog at a 30 percent chance, but it won’t see it in the overworld

You have a handful of options available to you. Unfortunately, you may need to rely on the dense fog weather, which you cannot gain access to until you’ve beaten the game. You complete the game by having your trainer inducted into the Hall of Fame, not when you complete all of the eight Gym badges. After that point, you can start to have the Heavy Fog spawning in the world.

Despite having it unlock, it still takes quite a bit of chance to have to randomly spawn in the Wild Area, not to mention a particular area in it. To make it easier, you can go to your Switch’s system settings and change the date to 06/01/2020. When you go back into your game, you see several of the areas all over the map have changed to Heavy Fog, giving you a better chance of locating it.

If you only want the next evolution of the Pokémon, Beheeyem, you can find it on Lake of Outrage. You need to have the Rotom Bicycle upgrade to cross the water, but you get it before you beat the game. Thankfully, you can locate it in normal weather at a decent chance, so you can breed the one you find and acquire Elgyem without having to rely on Heavy Fog.
