Hitman 3 on Epic won’t import Steam content from previous games

Hitman 2 will need to be repurchased, as no solutions are offered.

Hitman fans gathered that progression from past Hitman titles would transfer over to Hitman 3 from Steam, so many of them shrugged off the fact that the upcoming third installment would be a timed-exclusive on the Epic Games Store. Now, developer IO Interactive has made the incredibly untimely decision to tell these fans that this transfer doesn’t include content.

In a purchase guide on the developer’s site, IO instructs those looking to play Hitman 3 on PC to purchase access packs from Epic in order to have Hitman 1 and 2 levels in the newest game. Of course, this has only lead to a backlash, as it’s being disclosed only five days before Hitman 3’s launch.

Luckily, for those who pre-order the game or buy it within 10 days of release, the access pack for the original Hitman will come free of charge. Unfortunately, owners of Hitman 2 on Steam will need to buy access to it all over again on the new platform. Though, it is said to be on sale for a short time after Hitman’s release.

These access packs will include all levels and DLC for each previous installment, but again, they aren’t required if players desire to transfer over progress. To transfer progress, the guide writes that players can carry over saves from Hitman 1 and 2 instantly by signing into their IO account in Hitman 3.

The newest and last game in the trilogy, with its own large collection of levels, is set to release on January 20.
