Well, yes, and here we go again. In part 4 (previous three parts – Sniper Rifles, SMG, and Shotguns) of our preview look at all the Legendary Weapons in Borderlands 3, we’ve gotten to SMG’s. The go-to gun for most players in the series, the SMG’s are one of the best things to have on hand when you find yourself needing to spit a lot of fire rather rapidly. The perfect medium-range weapon, sorry fans of the Assault Rifles, they have always been able to clear a room quickly, thanks in no small part to their squeeze and spray functionality.

There have been some great ones and some downright pointless ones across the entire franchise, and you should expect many an old favorite to return in the new game, as well as a few new toys with which you can wreak havoc. So follow me down the rabbit hole as we take a look at all the Legendary SMG’s you can go hunting for in Borderlands 3.

Bitch

Bitch

Manufacturer: Hyperion

Tag Line: Yup. Back

Special Effect: Good Critical Hit Damage, Improved Accuracy

The Bitch is back, and this time she’s had a little work done. A mainstay of the series, first showing up in the original Borderlands, The Bitch has always been a handy gun to have at hand when you find yourself in the middle of a fire-fight. This time out it promises the same high rate of critical damage but claims to have even better accuracy. That’s something that has improved with each new release so that should mean this years version will let you shoot the eyebrows off a fly.

Cash-Infused Bitch

Cash-Infused Bitch

Manufacturer: Hyperion

Tag Line: If You Can’t Handle Me At My Worst

Special Effect: Taking Shield Damage Is Reflected Back At The Attacker

It’s picture placeholder time, and if you’ve read any of the other Legendary Weapon guides on this site, then you know what that means. It’s a new weapon time! The Cash-Infused Bitch promises to be a good addition to The Bitch line of SMG’s. While wielding it, any damage you take to your shield will be sent straight back at those that are peppering you with lead. Which should learn those responsible that messing with you is a terrible idea but it probably won’t.

Cloud Kill

Cloud Kill

Manufacturer: Maliwan

Tag Line: Oh Noo She Ded

Special Effect: Hit Your Target, Generate A Radiation Cloud

Following hard on the trail of The Cash-Infused Bitch comes another brand new SMG for you to play around with. The Cloud Kill is based on a tier 3 skill that you can unlock with Maya in Borderlands 2. With that activated you could shoot an acid cloud at an enemy, and it seems to have been so popular with Siren Class players that Gearbox Software has decided to go the whole hog and stick it in an SMG. Instead of shooting a corrosive bullet at opponents, the Cloud Kill will allow you to cover your enemy in radiation. Which is nice.

Smart-Gun XXL

Smart-Gun XXL

Manufacturer: Tediore

Tag Line: N/A

Special Effect: Spawns Brain Turrets On Reload That Grow Legs

Another place holder picture, another brand new SMG for you to go find. The Smart-Gun XXL sounds completely insane, as when you hit the reload button it let’s loose little Gigamind brain turrets. And if that wasn’t bonkers enough for you, these Gigamind brain turrets then grow mechanical spider-legs and chase and attack any enemy unlucky enough to be within killing distance. So spider-legged brains. Yeah, that’s not going to cause too many nightmares then.

Handsome Jackhammer

The Handsome Jackhammer

Manufacturer: Hyperion

Tag Line: Everyone Thinks They Are The Heroes Of Their Own Stories

Special Effect: A Working Shield When Using The Sights, Also Fires And Energy Ball

They couldn’t help themselves, could they? There must have been much guffawing and slapping of thighs in the Gearbox Software building when they guy, or girl, responsible came up with this killer jape. Anyways, bad play on words aside, The Handsome Jackhammer will protect you with a hield when you’re looking down its sights, and by all accounts, it’s a pretty decent one as well. It will also turn into a bouncing ball of explosive energy when you reload. Guess it had to make up for that horrible pun somehow.

The Sleeping Giant

The Sleeping Giant

Manufacturer: Dahl

Tag Line: Infinite Path Carved With Unrivaled Skill

Special Effect: Works At Both Close Range And Long Range

With a name like The Sleeping Giant, you’d expect this SMG to pack one hell of a punch, and from everything I can find on the subject, it does. It’s another new weapon, and it is, allegedly, excellent at both short-range as well as long. So, if you’re like me and try not to rush head-on into battle, you can pop enemies heads off from a distance. Find yourself suddenly swarmed by baddies? Then switch to full auto and lay then all down.

Turbo Ten Gallon

Turbo Ten Gallon

Manufacturer: Tediore

Tag Line: Let Me Tell You About My Best Friend

Special Effect: Reload And Get Yourself A Flying Turret

Oh Gearbox Software, with all these new guns, you’re spoiling us. The final Legendary SMG is the Turbo Ten Gallon. A weapon that spawns a flying turret behind you when you reload it that takes great pleasure in mowing down any hostiles you come across. So best used when you’re knee-deep in Psychos and Badasses. If they get this one right, it could, quite possibly, be the only SMG that you need.
