There’s more than just the Whisper of the Worm exotic inside this secret quest in Destiny 2. Learn how to get an exotic ship blueprint.
During my early attempts at navigating the jumping maze in the secret quest to get what turns out to be the Whisper of the Worm exotic, I came across a curious Vex gate. I didn’t give it too much thought, but Reddit has shown once again that Bungie doesn’t create any areas in Destiny 2 without express purpose. There is more to The Whisper quest than just the Destiny 2 version of the Black Spindle. An exotic ship blueprint can currently be obtained from the quest, and we’ll show you how to get your hands on it.
The Whisper Heroic
Before you can do anything, you must have completed The Whisper quest at least once so you can select it from the director in Heroic mode. So if you haven’t done that yet, be sure to have a look at our detailed guide.
Load up The Whisper in Heroic mode and begin as you usually would. This time, however, you’re looking for five hidden chests along the way to a Vex gate.
Five Hidden Chests and One Vex Gate
Five hidden chests must be opened along the way. If you fail to do so, then nothing will happen at the Vex gate.
Hidden Chest 1
The first hidden chest is near the start of the jumping puzzle. After making your first jump over a large gap and before dropping down to a red ledge, look on the right-hand side for an opening. Inside that is the first chest.
Hidden Chest 2
In the room with the tubes, instead of heading into the farthest, topmost tube on the right, head into the farthest, topmost tube on the left. At the bottom will be a chest.
Hidden Chest 3
In the large area with the rocky walls with the grassy ledges and the giant chasm in the center, crawl down a tunnel on the left side until you reach a chest.
Hidden Chest 4
This chest is found along the upper path out of the room mentioned above. You have to scale the walls jumping from grassy ledge to grassy ledge. After you enter the narrow dark tunnel on your way out, you’ll run into a chest.
Hidden Chest 5
The final chest is located behind the Vex gate and can be accessed by jumping to a narrow platform on a tall tower and then across to a lit area.
Oracle Order
Upon returning to the Vex gate, seven oracles will appear when turning your back towards the gate and looking in the general direction from where you entered this room. The oracles will appear and disappear, but during some moments, all seven will be visible together. Now is when your fireteam needs to shoot them in the correct order. Only by shooting the oracles in the correct order will you be able to solve the Oracle puzzle and reveal the reward chest.
Notes: Only shoot when all seven oracles are visible at once. If you make a mistake in the sequence, wait for the oracles to reset and start over with the first sequence.
Here are the sequences in which the oracles must be shot:
- First round: 1 – 3 – 5
- Second round: 4 – 6 – 7 – 3 – 1
- Third round: 7 – 3 – 1 – 6 – 4 – 2 – 5
After the third round, a final chest will spawn on the platform in front of the Vex gate. It contains an Enigmatic Blueprint for an exotic ship.
Enigmatic Blueprint Ship Schematics
Unfortunately, we can’t turn these ship schematics in for a completed exotic ship just yet. The schematics required the completion of The Whisper quest on Heroic with each of the three elemental singes. They rotate weekly, so this will take at least three weeks to complete.
