Destiny 2

What is a Heavy Frame in Destiny 2?

Johnny 5 is very much alive.

Destiny 2’s Season of the Worthy has some new mechanics that you will need to get used to and some new terminology. It can be a little confusing, such as knowing what a Heavy Frame is. One of the upgrades you can get for your Bunker is the ability to spawn a Heavy Frame.

Heavy Frame

It sounds nice, but Destiny 2 does a poor job of explaining what it is. To clear things up, Heavy Frames are AI-controlled robots that will kick the snot out of your enemies for you. To get access to Heavy Frames, you can follow our upgrade guide, but it’s a Tier 1 upgrade for your Seraph Bunker, so it won’t take you long to get access to it. Once you have access to the Heavy Frame, you can spawn it during the Seraph Tower public event, Bunker clears, and Legendary Lost Sectors.

Heavy Frame Spawner

To spawn in the Heavy Frame, you will need to find the spawn plates. These look very much like everything else connected to Rasputin, all black and metallic, with some fractalized orange light coming from them. After that, the Heavy Frame will spawn in, and start to lay waste to everything around it.

They can do considerable damage, and go out with a bang as they run at nearby enemies and explode. The only downside is that you will need to wait for a cooldown to end before you can spawn another one. At the moment, we do not know if this cooldown is for the plate specifically, or just the player who spawned in the Heavy Frame.

The Frames are also a little simpleminded, and won’t prioritize enemies based on threat. They will fight anything close to them. They do look great, however, and are a very fun mechanic that you can play around within the game.
