A few hours ago, Apple has revealed a new entry in its lineup of tablets – the latest iPad Pro model. In doing that, it has offered a quite specific comparison.

Indeed, the hardware giant says that the newest iPad Pro is capable of the same graphics performance as an Xbox One S.

Precisely, among the other specs, Apple said that the Pro is:

  • doing the same graphics of an Xbox One S
  • it’s 94% smaller than an Xbox One S
  • doesn’t need an AC cord
  • it’s 92% faster than all the portable PC sold in the last month
  • its graphics performance is 1000x faster than the 1st gen iPad

Commenting the announcement, Xbox’s Phil Spencer has said he’s glad to see Xbox One S used as a reference in such an important event.

Also, he hopes there’s a future of cross-play ahead between the two platforms.

By saying so, Apple is clearly targeting games and trying to be appealing to them when it comes to the performance side.

It’ll be interesting to see, especially considering how expensive the device is (spoiler: much more than a console), if it really ends up being a serious competitor in that space.

All of this is also happening in a moment when Microsoft and Google are aiming cloud gaming on any device.
