Pokémon has already received its fair share of mobile gaming lately, with one title in particular which you’re probably aware of, Pokémon Go.

Anyway, this is not stopping The Pokémon Company to go even further with the IP, pushing in a segment where it has proved to be rather successful.

On top of games for Nintendo Switch, coming late 2019, the label has indeed signed a new partnership with DeNA (the guys behind Super Mario Run, among the others) to work on a new title for mobile phones and tablets.

This new title, which we’ve not received any additional detail for the time being, is set to be released by the end of March 2020, so it’s coming relatively soon.

Thus far, DeNA has only announced the partnership with The Pokémon Company for “a new and exciting” Pokémon game for smartphones.

“More details, such as information about the game and specific release timing, will be announced later,” the developer added.

Remember that The Pokémon Company works independently from Nintendo, which only owns a share of the label.

So, this entire operation is set to be handled externally from the creators of Mario, this time around, which means you should not expect a Nintendo Direct announcement of sorts.

If everything goes by the plan, this Pokémon game should be free to play with in-app purchases, similarly to Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, to give you an example.
