A new rumor’s been around for a couple days now that Fortnite might be coming to Nintendo Switch with a reveal planned as early as E3 2018 this June. Interestingly, Nintendo and Epic Games have informally already denied this rumor.
The “gossip”, as it has been called by the guys at LeakyPandy who spread it on Twitter, claims that the game might be announced at E3, and that the Save the World and Battle Royale modes “may release sequentially.”
Battle Royale wouldn’t come in with “substantial differences on Switch” and should “feature cross-play” as the other versions around (it could even be the first console release to support it with both PS4 and Xbox One).
On top of this, according to the rumor, Save the World would come without the online multiplayer but with a “local co-op implemented” for up to four players. “Exclusive Nintendo IP related content” would be coming for this mode.
Anyway, Nintendo and Epic Games have informally debunked the rumor when contacted by USGamer.net.
“I checked in with sources close to both Nintendo and Fortnite Battle Royale and they informed me that they are not aware of any plans to announce Fortnite Battle Royale either at E3 or at this time in general,” claims the site.
However, “The team at Epic working on Fortnite Battle Royale are famously nimble and push and develop content constantly. Fortnite Battle Royale itself was spun off from the original PvE Fortnite mode very quickly. So while there appear to be no plans for a Switch version at the moment, things can also change quickly.”
We’ll keep an eye on the situation and let you know whether anything changes in time for E3 2018.
First of all, please consider this a rumor and take it with a grain of salt. We have been exposed to a lot of contradicting information about specifics, but after looking at it with perspective we think you deserve to know the predominating general gossip. YES, GOSSIP.

About time we talked our oldest tweet about this.
We said this because at the time we had been informed that Save the World and Battle Royale would release one after the other and not at the same time. We are not sure about this now, but that was a thing.https://t.co/Ksrdo9RP5O

The majority of the most interesting information about this is actually about Save the World. Nothing seems to point to Battle Royale being all that different on Switch. That goes for Cross-Play will be there too.

Save the World, on the other hand, apparently got Nintendo’s interest. One of our most trusted sources pointed to us that this game’s version local Switch-to-Switch Save the World. Exclusive Nintendo IP related content is also being worked on exclusively for StW.

It was suggested that there were marketing plans regarding using the duality of Fortnite to align it with the duality of the Switch itself, picturing BR as the docked experience and StW as the on the go side of things. Makes sense, but the info itself is shaky. Caution.

This is all for now. Is not too much compared to what we have been told, but it is the most coherent and reasonable. If new verifiable stuff comes forth we will let you know.
