League of Legends might be one of the latest gaming behemoths to join the mobile party, as reported by Reuters.

A mobile version of the much appreciated and played MOBA is said to be in the making thanks to a cooperation between Tencent and Riot Games.

Tencent is reported to have made a similar proposal years ago, but Riot has rejected it, going for its similar offering with Honour of Kings.

Honour of Kings has since become the world’s highest grossing multiplayer online battle arena game, after launching in November 2015, although most of its revenue comes from China.

Arena of Valor, its Western tailored version, has never met the same success and this is the reason why Tencent has approached Riot once again for League of Legends.

“One of the sources said Tencent and Riot have been working on a mobile version of League of Legends for more than a year, although a separate source said it was unlikely to be launched in 2019,” says Reuters.

“A mobile version would likely bring in more Asian players, who tend to prefer mobile-based games while Western gamers tend to prefer desktops or consoles for more sophisticated gameplay.”

Despite losing some traction on the press, LoL is still the most popular core PC game by several unique users in a month, says game tracker Newzoo, so it would definitely make sense.
