Niantic is officially increasing the max Pokémon storage space in Pokémon Go.
Finally, after fans begged on Twitter, Niantic is increasing the amount of Pokémon storage in Pokémon Go. Twitter comments have pleaded with the app for more storage space for both bag and Pokémon on any and every update. It looks like Niantic is listening and rolling out a quick update for just that.
Posted on Pokemon Go’s official Twitter, the update will increase the limit from 2,000 to 2,500. The last update was in 2018, raising it to 2,000. Thankfully, with the addition of Shadow Pokémon and purification, that gives players another 500 slots.

Don’t expect to see your storage increase suddenly. Players will still need to buy these upgrades in the app’s shop feature with coins. The upgrades range from 50 to 200 coins, depending on how many slots you’d like unlocked. Coins are available for purchase but can be earned in-app. Unfortunately, the only way to make those coins is by leaving Pokémon in the Gym for a certain amount of time, and players are only limited to 50 coins a day. Still, pretty quick to unlock those, especially if you live by a Gym and can throw Pokémon in during your lunch hour.
Hopefully, this update will lead to another for bag storage shortly, but right now it’s just for Pokémon.
