The new Pokemon GO Water Festival starts today, with a host of new things for trainers to do along with a handful of new changes
Today marks the start of Pokemon GO’s new Water Festival. In it, many water-type Pokemon are going to have increased spawns throughout the entire event, giving players a higher chance of capturing them. Additionally, Niantic has introduced two new shiny Pokemon to the game: Carvanha and Barboach, along with their respective evolved forms, Sharpedo and Whiscash.

The Water Festival started today, increasing the spawn of plenty of Water-types. Here’s a full list of the Water-type Pokemon you’re likely going to encounter for the next week.

- Feebas
- Finneon
- Lapras
- Lotad
- Mantine
- Piplup
- Poliwhirl
- Qwilfish
- Seaking
- Wartortle
Those eager to add these Pokemon to their roster, you want to jump on these spawns right now. Trainers are likely going to encounter Water-type Pokemon more frequently while walking near places in the real-world close to the water, or when it’s raining.
There’s a list of new Field Research tasks for everyone to do during the event. These tasks requirements vary from having trainers capture a set number of Water-type Pokemon, taking snapshots of them, and hatching eggs during the event. Each task comes with a reward. You want to make sure you have the proper Field Research task in your Research Tasks list by making sure it says Water Festival at the start of it. If it does not, you have a standard Field Research.
The next significant change coming with the event is the introduction of the move Crabhammer. It’s an exclusive charge attack for Kingler and Crawdaunt. Trainers are going nuts for the release of this attack, as it makes Kingler one of the best Water-type attackers in the game. Unfortunately, Crabby is not on the list for Water-type Pokemon who have an increased spawn. If you’re eager to try and get a Kingler with this move, you’ll want to wander around closer to water to capture one.
Lastly, there’s a big raid happening on Aug. 28, featuring Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf, going from 6 pm to 7 pm, in your respective region. This raid is a legendary one, so don’t take it lightly.
