In this God of War Walkthrough – The Sickness, to save Aterus Freya asks Kratos to bring the heart of the Bridge Keeper (Mattugr Helson), a giant who is guarding the realm of dead.
In Chapter 8 Behind the Lock, at Tyr’s vault, Atreus felt sick after Modi attacked and Freya gave Kratos a solution, where Chapter 9 The Sickness begins. Kratos back in his old forms once again swinging the Blade of Chaos. You can pick between the axe and blade. In Chapter 9 The Sickness, Kratos will visit the Realm of Dead and face the ferocious The Bridge Keeper to save Atreus.
The Sickness Walkthrough
Return to Tyr’s travel room
Use the fast travel point and pick Brok’s Shop that will lead you to the room where you can use the tree of life for traveling between the realm. Once you are there use the table, to travel to Helheim.
Reach the Bridge Keeper
Once you cross the door Brok will be on your right, you can go for upgrades. Or else go left, and you will be in Helheim. Keep moving ahead on the bridge, and there will be few trolls ahead. You can kill them easily using the blade. To unlock the blocked path by branches use the blade. You have to keep moving and fighting a whole army of trolls and hel-broods deads till you reach another blocked path. Follow the dead till you reach a locked door where only dead can pass.
Look on the left for the branches, destroy them and go down. There will be more ahead, once you are on the other side there will lot of enemies waiting for. The one with a shield can block your blade attack. Use your shield to throw them away and then attack. Next, climb on the rock on your left, and keep moving on the left one, then go down. Few more enemies will be in the region, walk towards the bridge. This time they can throw spears on you, you can block it using the shield.
While moving ahead, your path will be blocked and a bunch of enemies will spawn in the area. Defeat them and climb on the right where you can see two frozen giants, destroy the branches and walk left. Climb up From the right corner and you will see the deads moving on your left. Climb up once again and you will see the Bridge Keeper.
Defeat the Bridge Keeper (Mattugr Helson)
At the Bridge of the Damned, you will spot the giant standing in the center with a totem in hand. In the beginning, after a few attacks from the Blade of Chaos, it will turn red. This means the blades won’t cause him much damage, pull out your Axe and use it. You can see the above health bar a fire icon, this means you have to use the axe and when you see the snow icon you have to use the blade. He can teleport from one place to another and instantly release a blow attack from his totem three times and the fourth time it will bang it on you. Run in a circle behind it to escape.
He will also throw pieces of ice towards you, dodge them. Charging on the leg with right weapons will give you a good damage. When your rage meter is full and the keeper is banging his totem on ground pickup huge rocks and throw at him. This will draw out a massive amount of health. He will summon a few allies that are easy to take down if you are using the blade. Ahead in attacks, he will throw up a shockwave of energy towards you, but you can dodge because it will travel in a single direction only.
He will keep on teleporting to a different location, and change it attacks from You can target the legs especially when he slows down after banging the totem on the ground. The key to kill him is to keep on moving as fast as you can and switching your weapons accordingly.
In the next cutscene, you will see Kratos digging out the heart of Keeper, you have to return to Tyr’s Travel room. Look for a column with a blue light on a corner, Brok will meet you there and he will upgrade your blade. You can target the wind trap to unlock doors. First, you have to target the ball with glowing blue light and then go near the door and target the ball in the door and unlock it. There will be glowing blue balls around you can use to unlock the doors.
Outside there is one door, first target the ball on the main door from where you exit and use it on the closed one to unlock it. Return all the way to the first door that was locked, you can know unlock it using the wind trap method.
There will be a lot of enemies blocking your path, once you cross the main door, use the travel point to get back to Atreus in Midgard and deliver the heart to Freya.
