In this God of War Walkthrough – Behind the Lock, Kratos fights with Modi, son of Thor, and Atreus is sick. Freya shows a path to heal Atreus which will be continued in the next chapter The Sickness.
In Chapter 7 The Magic Chisel, Thor’s son Magni and Modi attacked Kratos and his son during the chisel hunt. After defeating them you will earn Leiptr Alloy and Frozen Flame, legendary items. Modi escapes after Magni dies. In Chapter 8 Behind the Lock, after having the chisel, Mimir will tell to reach Tyr’s Vault where things do not go well. For the sake of his child, Kratos returns to his old form.
Behind the Lock Walkthrough
Return to the boat
Once you have the chisel, you can now unlock the locked doors. You have to return to the boat, there is a door on the left corner of chisel location. Open it up and climb from the end, jump left towards a cave. Next, kick the chain and go down, and you will spot Sindri in Dining Hall. Go down and there is another locked door on the right side. Cross the door and go towards on the crystals, there is a path on the right that leads to another door.
Outside you will see a lift on the left top. Hit the chain that locks the lift to break it the lift will stop at the right end. Go there and Aterus will climb up, return to the wheel on the left corner and move the lift towards the left end and freeze it. Atreus will drop a chain, climb up and recall the axe. Once you are on the other side, go left there is another locked door. Climb the chain and you will be outside, take the boat and follow the compass marker, that will lead you to Lake of Nine.
Go to Tyr’s Vault
Follow the compass and you will reach a locked door, the vault is behind it. Explore it and there is a sand bowl in the center. Aterus will try to teach Kratos reading the sand bowl. After getting attacked by Modi, Kratos has to take Atreus to Freya.
Ask Freya for help
Carry the boy to the boat, and paddle below broken Thor’s statue. It will lead you to Witch’s Cave. Freya will tell Kratos to bring the heart of a Keeper that protects the Bridge of the Damned. Take her boat to return home. There will be few trolls outside the home, after clearing them to enter the house. Kratos gets his old weapon the Blade of Chaos back. Because the place where he is going the Axe won’t work. Outside more trolls are waiting up, use the blades to slice them into pieces.
